I am so happy to announce the topic for Blog Action Day 2009: climate change.

Thousands of people voted and together we’re going to bring new breadth to the global climate change conversation just as our leaders prepare to meet in Copenhagen this December in an effort to agree on lasting solutions to this crisis.

Today is the first day to register your blog and commit to writing one post on October 15 about climate change.

But I want to ask you to do more. Because our goal is to make Blog Action Day 2009 the biggest ever social change event on the Web.

I hope you will help promote Blog Action Day, I hope you will download badges, embed the video on your blog, follow us at twitter.com/blogactionday, and watch this blog for information about the issue, more ideas about how you can participate and–after October 15–stay involved with the issue.

The whole point of Blog Action Day is for bloggers to use their platforms, bring their voices together, and open up a conversation that has never before spread so far.

Some of the biggest and most well-known blogs have already signed up to participate, but it is the power of thousands and thousands of bloggers around the world that will make October 15 a success.

So it’s up to you. Are you ready to help by using your blog to help confront climate change and make sure our leaders know that we care and that we want solutions?

I have registered two blogs under the one email address (as I do in Blogger). One is in English and the other in Irish. When I log in I only get the English language one.Should I re-register the Irish language one with another email address?

Also I have done an Irish language version of the logo. Where should I send it for general availability.

Both blogs have now turned up on the list of participants, thanks.

I have referenced the Irish language version of the logo, via Twitter here: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_dwrlebseeOI/Srp2D_DdUAI/AAAAAAAAAz0/qVtlJXgjTWY/s1600-h/bad_2009_logo_3.jpg

the indigenous people of the world are the ones who are at the forefront of both the bad effects of climate change and also in the efforts to mitigate it. there should be a special section in the blog action day on the efforts being made by mass organisations of the indigenous people around the world in this regard.

I signed up for the blog action day – but I don’t twitter and I don’t do facebook – for obvious reasons, they serve no purpose for me. I find them useless, and the hackers look for vulnerabilities. I just hope I can help without them.
