On October 15, 2008, thousands of bloggers will talk about poverty and try to change the global conversation for one day.
As that magical day approaches, we urge you to follow/befriend/join Blog Action Day 2008 on the following social media, social networking and social activist websites (in alphabetical order):
BlitzTime - We have a special conference call coming up on Thursday, Sept. 18 at 10 PM GMT (6 PM US Eastern). Come join us and meet other people who are interested in Blog Action Day one-on-one!
BlogCatalog - Our special BlogCatalog group.
BlogTalkRadio - We’re doing a huge 12-hour radio show on Blog Action Day itself!
Change.org - 61 followers ain’t bad … we’d really love to increase our donation tally ($370 raised so far to fight poverty).
Facebook - 118 fans - won’t you become one too?
Flickr - Our awesome Flickr photo sharing group. See our photostream. And see all photos tagged blogactionday.
FriendFeed - Stalking us just got a lot easier.
Friendster - Join our Friendster fan club!
Kiva.org - Kiva is one of our two officially supported poverty relief organizations this year (the other is The Global Fund). Join our lending team and change the lives of poor people all over the world. They work to pay back the money, too. It’s awesome to watch.
Last.fm - We’re always looking for great music related to poverty.
LinkedIn - We have a dedicated LinkedIn group.
MySpace - We’ve got a special page set up for Blog Action Day. Friend us and join the Blog Action Day MySpace crowd!
NetVibes - Another fine portal for our event.
Ning - We have a mini-social network!
PBWiki - We’ve got a wiki set up that right now is mainly being used to host a lot of multilingual translations of various pages and images from our website. Click here to request access to become a wiki editor!
Stand Against Poverty - Our official United Nations page. You’ve gotta do this. It’s October 17-19,
The Point - We have a brand new campaign set up here and will try to convince a major US retailer to donate a percentage of their profits on October 15 to The Global Fund.
Twitter - We’re chugging along with 556 followers at the moment. Please follow us and Tweet back and forth with us to make Blog Action Day even more fun!
Vimeo - Here’s where our official 2008 launch video is being hosted.
WeEarth - Welcome to our village.
YouTube - We have a profile page. Needs to be updated, but it’s there and you can see our 2007 campaign videos for now.
If we can change the subject across the world on October 15, imagine the difference it could make to even just one person in poverty’s shadow.
We’d appreciate any and all suggestions you may have on how we can use all of the above sites to make Blog Action Day as viral and powerful as possible.
We’ll try to update this post over time so you can see what we’re doing on various social media websites to make this event as huge and impactful as possible.
If you know of (or maybe own) another website that Blog Action Day could be on, please let us know!

I just found you guys on Twitter. I’m following now. I also put an ad slate on my blog to let people know about this. I grabbed one of yours, but I made a few modifications myself. Hope you don’t mind.

You might want to consider creating a social network on ning.com. It not only allows users to create profiles, but their own social networks which they can control.
