Blog Action Day is organised as a non-profit activity by a group of volunteer bloggers and the staff of Envato who donate their time and resources. It started as a “what would happen if” question and simply took on a life of its own.
Event Coordinator (collis@blogactionday.org)
Collis is an optimist whose passion for the web drives him to build websites like there’s no tomorrow. He helped co-found Blog Action Day on the Baha’i ideal of Unity in Diversity, because he believes that change has to happen organically, as a process, and that it is important for everyone to build the momentum that will result in long term improvements in the world. He sees Blog Action Day as an instrument not just for raising awareness but also for creating community and identity in the blogosphere.
In his capacity as CEO of the web startup Envato, Collis is semi-permanently attached to his laptop and can be found on Twitter lamenting the lack of hours in the day, and thinking up ways to get to work on every project that comes his way.
Assistant Event Coordinator (easton@blogactionday.org)
Easton Ellsworth helps businesses get better results through blogs, wikis and other social media. From 2005 to 2008, he served as an editor for the Know More Media business blog network. In 2008, Easton started his own blog consulting service called Visionary Blogging. He lives and works in the Denver, Colorado area and is married with three children.
Blogger Coordinator (leo@blogactionday.org)
After many years as a newspaper editor, Leo decided to move online and hasn’t looked back as his wildly popular blog ZenHabits has rocketed into the top 100. He is currently working on a book to follow up his successful e-book Zen to Done, and can be found in Guam with his wonderful family (including six children!)
Leo helped kickstart the whole Blog Action Day enterprise and is the man behind the 2008 - theme.
Blogger Coordinator (fuad@blogactionday.org)
With a mountain of experience in technology and the web, Fuad has worked (and run) companies large and small. Living in the southern-most part of Australia, Fuad is busy proving that in a wired world, location is simply not important.
As blogger coordinator, Fuad is responsible for contacting bloggers and spreading the word about Blog Action Day.
Media Liaison (cyan@blogactionday.org)
Recently named the 35th most influential female blogger, Cyan’s day job of running Envato’s growing network of blogs, has given her an in-depth insight into the world of blogging. Though she is a former graphic designer - of the print variety, Cyan is now firmly a woman of the web and not only co-founded Blog Action Day, but was in fact responsible for bequeathing it’s name. And in case you are wondering, no the acronym BAD was not an accident.
As Media Liaison, Cyan is back this year to answer the press, and is available for interviews.
Media Liaison (naysan@blogactionday.org)
Raised on the island nation of Papua New Guinea, Naysan briefly shed his adventuring background to work as a producer for powerhouse news network CNN. In time though his intrepidness won out and Naysan found himself filming documentaries in countries as far flung as Uganda and East Timor. Freshly returned to his current home of Australia, Naysan is excited to bring both his world-experience and his hard-won media contacts and skills to bear on 2008’s Blog Action Day.
Development ( john@blogactionday.org )
Working on what might possibly be the largest computer screen around, John is chief developer behind the Blog Action Day project. He has been instrumental in creating a site that will act as a hub for this extraordinary event. Along with his development skillset, John is also rather handy with a hackeysack, regularly runs triathalons, and races bikes.
